The Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation recently conducted a two day advanced training symposium in the outskirts of Mexico City. Kyo Sa Nim Omar Reyna Estrada, E Dan - owner of the Academia de Artes Marciales Koreanas - Dojang Tecamac hosted Grandmaster John St. James, the President and Founding Master of the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation. In addition to Kwan Jang Nim St. James, Senior Master Antonio Rivera, Jr., Oh Dan of Meriden Academy of Martial Arts in Meriden, Connecticut also attended and assisted Kwan Jang Nim with the multiple day event. A Shim Sa was held on Friday evening, October 31st for all gup levels. The next day, a general clinic was conducted covering Bong (staff) mechanics A thru Z, and basic whip staff. Instructors and students from several surrounding schools were also treated to advanced Ho Sin Sul training with Senior Master Rivera. After the clinic, a Dan Shim Sa was held for all eligible candidates.
While in Mexico, Grandmaster St. James, Senior Master Rivera, Professor Reyna, and assistants traveled around Mexico City, which is the World's largest city. As special guests, they stayed The group was in awe of the monuments and art at the archeological zone. In addition to the Citadel, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Avenue of the Dead, the delegation team walked the same path as the ancient Aztec warriors did so many years ago. One of the highlights of the trip was when the group climbed the famous Pyramid of the Sun. In the distance they could see the Pyramid of the Moon and other awe inspiring monuments. Most of all, Grandmaster St. James and Senior Master Rivera were impressed with the people they met and the hospitality they enjoyed and look forward to future trips.
